Building A Home Studio With Used Recording Studio Equipment
If you’re planning or in the process of building a home recording studio, consider using used recording studio equipment. Used recording equipment can save you a lot of money. And sometimes older used equipment sounds a lot better than new equipment.
It is quite possible to build an entire home recording studio using all used equipment. Used recording equipment is very easy to find. Many local music instrument retailers will also have a selection of used gear. You can sometimes find incredible deals on great pieces of recording equipment at yard sales and estate sales. And online auction sites are good places to look. There is usually a wide selection of all kinds of studio gear for sale at unbelievable prices. Many people do not know the real value of older vintage recording equipment. If you know what to look for, you can find excellent deals.
There is some specific equipment you will need for your home studio regardless of what kind of music you are recording or what format you are recording on. Every studio will need microphones, headphones, mic stands, instrument cables, mic cables, direct boxes, connectors, adapters, etc. These are things that can really add up fast when buying everything new. But many times you can buy these types of things very inexpensively if you buy used. These used pieces may not be as shiny as new ones, but they will work just as well and save you a bundle.
If you plan on recording analog using a multitrack tape recorder, you should be able to find great deals on recorders. Great multitrack machines that were tens of thousands of dollars new can now be found for just hundreds of dollars. And don’t forget tape. Used analog tape is easy to find or you can usually find whatever tape you’re using new as well.
Great used digital equipment is also plentiful. The sheer number of digital mixers and recorders made combined with such fast changing technology results in fantastic deals on used digital recording equipment. Both digital tape-based formats and hard disc formats can be found for great prices.
It’s always best to have a plan for your studio when you start looking for recording equipment. You should know what you’re looking for, how many you need, and basically have a shopping list prepared. This is especially true when looking for used equipment. Being somewhat familiar with the different models and values of older used studio gear will help you find the best deals.
Used recording equipment is a great way to go when building a home studio. You can build more studio for cheaper, and it may even sound better than a studio full of new gear.

| Review by Johnny C. Lee (USA) 2010-07-25 This is a good player with a lot of the features of Blu-Ray, Netflix, and YouTube player at a cheap price. The YouTube user interface needs to be better; it only has a play and pause button. It does not have forward or backward search which is a big handicap.... | Review by HMMWV (santa clara, CA USA) 2010-07-24 Prior to this model, the viera system in 2009 series players could not generate a unique serial number. Netflix's reaction to this was to not send netflix on demand to these players since their 6 display limit could not be enforced as all pre 2010 units didn't have a unique ID which could be tracked. Be sure to get the most recent fir... Read more Panasonic DMP-BD85K WiFi reviews | ||

| Review by Josh (Minnesota USA) 2010-07-04 The remote feels nice, and the player does what it is supposed to do. Playback of AVCHD on memory cards is a nice touch for anyone with a camera that records in that format. For a budget product, this does seem to perform well, and I haven't had any major issues with playback of any supported media. Thumbs up.... Read more Panasonic DMP-BD45 Ultra-Fast reviews | ||

| Review by Corey L. Oakes (TX) 2010-07-19 This unit has been obsoleted by model DMP-BD65 (ASIN: B0038KN114) which would be a better purchase because it is less expensive and has Netflix capablity. | Review by T. Nelson (Virginia, USA.) 2010-04-06 The reason they listed the resolution as WSVGA is they didnt want to outright state exactly what it was. WSVGA is 1024x600, which happens to be the standard on many netbooks these days. This device does not need to exist. At that resolution you would do well to just watch DVD's. It is totally unsuitable for watching blu-rays. It cannot even play at... Read more Panasonic DMP-B100 8.9-Inch reviews | ||
